Turkey

One of the original 3 Jubilee Trails, and another that has seen many extensions, alignments and additions over the years. Constructed by the TMBC with excavator hire (yes this one rolled too) and an army of volunteers hand cutting, circa 2010/2011, it remains the trail to test your climbing mettle. Named due to the sheer volume of scrub turkey nests spotted during construction. Some club members wanted to name the trail Turkey Slap, a suggestion that although quite entertaining, was met with fierce opposition from council.

A solid blue square trail, and coming in at 159m of elevation loss over its 2.4 km in length. It is a two way trail that can be descended from the grassy knoll, or taken as a highly challenging climb from the Amos road gazebo. There a couple of short, steep, technical climbing sections along the trail that are popular with E-MTB riders and local legends, as a challenging “power stage”. Riders not wanting to climb the whole trail can take the Crows Flight trail half way up to join into Dirty Granny, or head towards the North Face.

The TMBC engaged Brett Cotter and his Trailworx team to complete a full rework of the last few hundred metres of the trail in July 2021.

2021 realignment of the final section of Turkey

TMBC Members hand cut a section of Turkey.

When climbing, this section of Turkey; the great wall, is perfect for very fit riders, and E-MTB riders.
