Centrelink

As Jubilee Park expanded, and mountain biking in the region became evermore popular, the need for a climbing route from bottom to the Grassy Knoll became more apparent. Turkey could be climbed, however, realistically, it was out of the reach of beginner and intermediate riders. Centrelink trail, constructed in 2015, filled that need, the first trail, and the central link, in what would eventually become the arterial climb route to the Bridge Street tail head.

Coming in at just over 1 km in total, Centrelink is a two way trail, comprising of two sections. The first section, a 350m green circle trail, was completely redesigned, and constructed by Brett Cotter and his Trailworx team in 2021, and departs the gazebo at the Amos Road trail head to gently snake its way up to a fire road crossing. The second section, an 850m blue square trail, meanders up the side of the mountain to seamlessly connect with the start of Dirty Granny. Although technically a blue square trail, the second section of Centrelink is essentially a green circle trail, with a couple of small log features to negotiate. This makes it just spicy enough to earn it blue square status.

Riders climbing Centrelink are urged to exercise caution as the trail also serves as a primary descent for beginners, and can see a large volume of riders, especially on weekends. All riders are reminded that etiquette dictates that descending riders should give way to climbing riders.

The first section of Centrelink begins at the Amos Road trail head.

The second section of Centrelink continues on to join Dirty Granny.

The casual pace of Centelink affords the opportunity to spot the odd Koala or Echidna.
