Jubilee Park

Jubilee Park is one of Toowoomba’s premier escarpment parks, and home to both multi use trails, and mountain bike (MTB) only single track. The park currently has over 28 km of single track, and the Toowoomba Regional Council recently announced that $6.6 million dollars in Federal and State Government grant funding has been secured to upgrade and expand what is already a magnificent regional MTB destination, into a MTB centre of excellence. This funding will see the realisation of the Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley Mountain Bike Master Plan, and should be completed by 2026.

The Mountain Bike trail system was constructed over a period of more than 15 years, by passionate volunteers, and club engaged contractors via community fundraising and grants. The trails are not maintained by Toowoomba Regional Council, but by Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club (TMBC) volunteers, and contractors engaged, and funded by TMBC members, and community members that have donated funds.

The trail system boasts everything from Beginner to Expert, hand cut single track to machine groomed flow. These trails have drops, jumps, some skinny’s, rock gardens, and many other trail features for riders of all skill levels to enjoy.

Pirate Lines, Rogues and Rascals

Although Jubilee Park has many excellent official trails to ride, riders should also be aware that Toowoomba has a vibrant and established mountain bike culture, complete with all manner of local legends, rogues and rascals, and as such, there is also an extensive “Pirate Trail” system.

These unsanctioned trails are built by very talented young, and not so young trail builders, and if they were official trails, they would mostly be rated at black diamond, and double black diamond. These trails are not condoned by the TMBC, and riders are advised that if they choose to ride these unsanctioned trails, they do so at their own risk. They are secret trails, are not on any maps, and emergency services will have a very difficult time finding you if you get lost, or injured on these trails. Toowoomba Regional Council will also fine anyone caught riding these trails.

Pirate trails are not only located in Jubilee Park, but can also be found in other areas of Toowoomba’s Eastern Escarpment, and can be identified by a lack of signage. All official trails in the Toowoomba area have a blue sign at the entrance.
