A social gravel ride taking in some challenging gravel routes throughout Lockyer National Park, Ravensbourne and surrounding areas. Three marked courses to suit all levels of fitness:

  • Wooly Wether - 22-36 km (320-620m elevation, 75% gravel), capacity to double back when you are ready

  • Feral Goat - 65 km (1430 m elevation, 80% gravel)

  • Scrubber – 90 km (2100 m elevation, 65% gravel)

Event details

Location – the ride will leave from Progress Park, Helidon. Car parking is available around the park. Registration point will be on the oval near the toilet block.

Registration & timing: Registration opens at 6.30 am. All riders are expected to attend a briefing at 7.30 am with departure shortly afterwards.

Costs: All proceeds go to the Toowoomba Mountain Biking Club for hosting the event.

  • $10 - those with insurance (e.g. AusCycling or Bicycle Qld membership - we will require your membership number at registration.

  • $20 - For those without insurance - to cover insurance for the day.

Arrangements

All riders are expected to be self-sufficient on the ride. Please bring your mobile phone in case of emergency. Also carry appropriate repair kit, tools, spare tube/s, etc.

Water & Food: Plan to carry at least 1 L of water and sufficient nutrition for your anticipated ride. Water will be available for replenishment at 3 locations on the course – junction of Nara Bore Water Hole Rd – Lucks Rd (all courses- 20/38 k, 20/65 k, 47/100 k courses), junction of Oakey-Cutella Rd and Kingsthope-Silverleigh Rd (68 & 85/100 k course and 40/65 k courses), and at Pioneer Park Goombungee (37/100 k course).

Please note – there are limited opportunities to source food along the way. Apart from the town of Murphy’s Creek (on the 65 & 100 km courses), you won’t travel through any other towns along the way.

Directions: All major junctions or turning points on the course will be marked with directional arrows. All riders will also receive a pamphlet at registration which includes directions, a map of their intended course and an emergency contact number.

We will be monitoring weather conditions and checking the course the day before. Currently the forecast looks fantastic (if you trust it)

Post ride: The club is aiming to offer a BBQ and drinks at the the start/finish point before and after the ride (TBC).
